Yep, it’s another working Title.
What about Carnage Overdrive?
Anyway, here’s the pitch.
It’s Carmageddon meets Call of Duty.
Ok. Done. Off you go…
So, a little more?
It’s 4 player co-op, although we will add in AI companions for those that can’t muster 3 decent, or competent, friends.
Teams of 4 compete with other teams to drive through a large Zombie filled open world, dotted with Survivor Camps, and Military Outposts to reach an extraction on the far side of the world. Because that would be too easy, on the way they must stop and pick up key items, without which they will not be extracted.
The teams are notionally comprised of a driver, navigator, gunner, and mechanic, although roles can blur, and everything changes when some or all of the team goes on foot.
Vehicles began being based on “technicals”, pickup trucks with large guns mounted on the back of them, but have evolved to include a diverse range of types, all with many modfications.
Weapons, armour, and other upgrades can be salvaged during runs and indeed sometimes may be needed, or may not be enough, forcing the team to find a new set of wheels.
Any section which requires some or all of the team to disembark forces choices.
Do two stay in the car, one to drive, and one to mount the gun, or does everyone get out?
What if everyone gets out and the Zombies come in force, or worse still another team shows up. Dare you leave it unattended?
If only two get out, then that trip into the building to get what’s needed is going to be harder.
And will the other two be outside when you get back out, or will they be doing loops, trying to avoid other teams, or packs of Zombies?
The items required act to pull teams into proximity.
The survivors and military camps act as hazards to be avoided, pushing teams into choke points.
Natural hazards, like canyons, and lakes also act as route blocks, and channel teams together.
Run, gun, drive, survive, and do it faster than the rest.
