Porn Tycoon

Ok. So this one is a bit tongue in cheek, and a bit of a black comedy, so please don’t get offended.

If you ever played Rollercoaster Tycoon, or Theme Park World(?), then you can probably imagine this already.

It’s a mix of The Movies, and Theme Park World, fused with countless “start at the bottom and work your way up” games (no pun intended!).

So, when you start, you don’t have any money. You can’t afford any porn stars. You don’t have any good equipment, and you certainly can’t afford glamorous locations.

Your first movies will be set in sleezy motel rooms, with male stars who suffer from a range of ailments which make them wholly unsuitable for the role, such as alcoholism, addiction, a lack of ability to “get it up”. And so on. You get the picture.

To me, that’s the funny part of the game, and if you played The Movies where you worked with drunken actors then you probably get it already.

And so it goes on, more movies, and clawing your way up, until you can shoot a movie that Hefner would be proud of, with all the best stars of the adult world.

It’s a nod to all those old school games, and tells a more honest story about the real world, and the porn industry, even if it may end up being much the same as the multitude of “porn games” that have flooded onto Steam in the last few years.

Of course, being a game, it doesn’t get as dark as a documentary. It’s more thought provoking than anything out there, and it delivers it through the medium of fun, not through a documentary or moral lesson, but it’s still not as dark as reality. Unlike many others, including Mr Epstein and his friends, we are not abducting girls and importing them as sex slaves, and most certainly not underage ones.

That’s what makes this a difficult subject, and a taboo. But there’s still a black comedy in there. And it’s an example of one of the many forms of art that video games could be.
